Q. Matthew T. of West Virginia wants to know: "Can I Just Use the Model QDRO Form Given to Me By the Plan Administrator?"
A. Spencer, from the QDRO Department of Pension Evaluators & QDROS
Of Troyan, Inc Associates Group writes: "QDROs are not neutral documents. "Model" QDROs that plan administrators
provide are often designed to benefit the plan. It is advisable to obtain
the services of a qualified pension expert savvy in QDRO preparation to
protect the pensioner and/or the non-pensioned spouse award interests."
